CANTERBURY CAN is a new anthem inspired by the 4 September earthquake.
Chris Williams will offer the debut performance of the anthem at the biggest free concert NZ has ever seen BAND TOGETHER on 23 October 2010.
There will be 9 hours of FREE entertainment and it won’t cost Canterbury a cent!
Thirty three of New Zealand’s hottest music acts have now been confirmed for the biggest FREE concert New Zealand has ever seen.
Kiwi music stars including Anika Moa, Bic Runga, Che Fu, Dane Rumble, Dave Dobbyn, J Williams, King Kapisi, Nathan King, Dame Malvina Major, Julia Deans, Ray Columbus and Dinah Lee will be joined in the lineup by supergroups including Dukes, Evermore, The Exponents, The Feelers, Minuit, Midnight Youth and Opshop. All are giving their time and talent free to entertain Cantabrians.
The massive event will begin at 11am and run through to 8pm and will be broadcast on television and radio throughout. The event has been made possibly only through the generosity of the artists banding together with New Zealand business. Any money leftover from sponsorship will be paid into the Zealand Red Cross Canterbury Earthquake Appeal.
